ELECTRONIC APPLICATIONS

• For low voltage <25V, for data transmitting: Coaxial, Twinaxial,
Triaxial and Quadraxial Cables.
• For 600V or less: Multi-conductor cables of a wide variety of
constructions up to 1 1/2” diameter.

MATERIALS

Conductors:
Our conductors range from 28 AWG to 4/0. Conductors may be:
1. Bare or tinned copper
2. Copper-covered steel
3. Plated with silver or nickel

Insulation and Jacketing:
We use two basic groups of insulation and jacketing materials:
1. Conventional thermoplastic
2. Thermoset plastics

CONVENTIONAL THERMOPLASTIC JACKET MATERIALS

• Flexible polyvinyl chlorides (PVCs) of various forms
–including Flame Retardant and Semi-Rigid.
• Nylon
• Polyethylene (PE):
– low density & Linear Low Density (LDPE)
– high density (HDPE)
– low density polyethylene foam
• Polyurethane (PU) — matte finish only
• Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE)

IRRADIATED THERMOSET JACKET MATERIALS

• Flexible polyvinyl chlorides (PVCs) of various forms,
– including Flame Retardant
• Polyethylene (PE)
– low density & Linear Low Density (LDPE)

SHIELDING

Berkshire can apply shielding to single conductors, twisted pairs, triplets
and multi-conductor cable configurations. Shielding includes:
• copper braid shields
• aluminized Mylar foil shields

FILLERS

Berkshire Electric Cable can incorporate non-hydroscopic synthetics, as
well as flame retardant synthetics. In addition, we use a variety of
water-blocking compounds, PVC or PE rod fillers, in multi-conductor
cables to obtain a round cross section and a smooth outer surface.
