Our unique compound is what makes our product so superior. When compared to UL® 105°C dry / 75°C wet, PVC, Berkshire Electric Cable’s UL® 105°C dry / 75°C wet, irradiated thermoset insulation surpasses PVC insulation in critical test results. Our insulation has greater elongation, greater heat resistance to deformation, and greater heat resistance. Not only did our compound exceed all test results, but tensile strength and elongation actually improved after heat aging.
BERKSHIRE ELECTRIC CABLE’s
ONE MILLION VOLT ELECTRON BEAM
Thermoset’s remarkable performance is achieved though cross-linking with our One Million Volt Electron Beam. Traditional processing involves melting and forming PVC insulation around wire. Cross-linking by irradiation takes this process one step further. As copper insulated wire is passed under our One Million Volt Electron Beam, the compound changes into a thermoset insulation that does not melt at overheated temperatures, compared to traditional PVC insulation which does melt under the same conditions.
